Warriors of Aidoios - P2 Warriors of Aidoios - P2

Rated 4 / 5 stars January 7, 2007

Very nice effort.

I really never thought of trying to take digital photos and string them together in flash.

What you've done here is fresh, but it needs real refinment.
The motion is robotic most of the time, and the hits lack a look and feeling of real impact. The locations were very nice though, good job with picking them. The outfits weren't bad either, and you guys looked good in them, so you have those things going for you.

All you really need to do is create some better way to link the frames together while keeping it fluid. Experement with things like
shooting multiples of each frame and cutting some of them out to play with the speed of the resulting "movement". Looking forward to your next effort.

There's potential here.

You got some decent voice actors, the art is decent too.
Now, the recording of the voices could be crisper ad clearer,
and if these movies are a year old, your art should be better than
what we see here. Keep at it, any you'll make frontpage in no time.

Very nicely done.

Slick kinetic animation here. You definately conveyed the feeling of movement here; and very well, too. The art was much better than most entries, but your stuff could be on a whole other level
if you improve that.

Dead Frontier Night Three Dead Frontier Night Three

Rated 4 / 5 stars January 20, 2008

What I think...

This is probably the best of the three, as it is more action-packed, and even though you are outside, the hordes of zombies you are confronted by, help keep the tension of the first two. I do wish however, that you added a location specific damage system, so it would be feasible to pull off headshots, or blow off a zombie's limbs, effectively slowing them down. Sometimes, the girl got stuck behind cars or crates, leaving me unable to move to the next screen. Can't wait to see this in final MMO form.

Project Validus: Survival Project Validus: Survival

Rated 4 / 5 stars February 8, 2007

Solid Top-Down Zombie Blaster

This is the best game of this type I've played on NG.
But that being said, there are a few issues with it.

For example. The weapons, need to be more effective.
Especially since the speed of the zombies seem to be randomized.
Someone just starting can be overwhelmed by one superfast zombie, and they can be shooting him point-blank with a shotgun,
or letting him have a whole clip of machinegun fire, and still get killed. That's not right at all.

Also, when a zombie does get close enough to hit you, it's near-impossible to hit him with anything. There needs to be a way to shake them off.

The graphics are pretty average for this type of entry. Better visuals would take this game to a whole other level. For example,
the parking lot level could be darkened, the lightpoles with their own individual lightsources. They could flicker or pulse, helping make the atmosphere more tense. The asphalt could be slick from a recent rain and blood from recent victims of the zombie hordes.

But all in all, this is a very good first attempt a actionscript powered flash.

Chrispington responds:

The whole reason city streets is simple is for slow computer people.

And you CAN shoot them when they're on top of you.

As to your weapon woes, the whole reason the weapons are shitty is so you can upgrade
:/
Plus it is entirely possibly for someone to unload a whole clip at a zombie, WHILE RUNNING, and not hit him in the head. Once they have weapons training, it's another story. Make sense?

TRN47 - Subversion TRN47 - Subversion

Rated 3.5 / 5 stars January 26, 2007

Nice little game there.

Interesting backstory and classic Tempest-like gameplay.
I wished that you could shoot the enemy smugglers, but the pulse device forces you to learn to manuver better so you can get closer.
The art could be improved. Would like to see the next installment.

Not bad.

It starts out okay, but it gets better when the guitar comes in. If you redo this, you might want to throw in a small guitar solo.
